Location: These trees are located along Stone Creek throughout the course. This includes trees on holes No. 2, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 16 and 17. The labeled tree is on No. 2 near the bridge.
Description of Plant: Baldcypress is a deciduous conifer native to the southeastern United States. They are known for the russet-red fall color and the “knees” associated with their roots when they grow in or around water (as best seen near the larger Baldcypress to the right of the #12 green). Older specimens of the plant are known to be over 1,000 years old. The tree frequently lives to over 200 years old. One of the few trees that can have wet feet year round.
Size: Usually 50’ to 70’ tall but can grow to heights over 100’ and girth over 30’.
Growth Rate: Medium. Probably 1-2 feet per year in our climate.
Foliage: Delicate needles green in summer, changing to russet red in fall. Has globular resinous cones.
