Walla Walla, WA | Our 18-hole course was founded in 1923 and designed by a local banker, W.W. Baker in 1923 then redesigned by world famous golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast in 1936. 

The overall length of the course looks as if it should lend itself to low scores, but the trees, rough and smallish greens more than make up for the short length. Sitting nestled at the base of the Blue Mountains in Eastern Washington. Walla Walla Country Club is not only an 18-hole year-round golf course but is also a full-service, multi-activity club that extends far beyond the summer months.

Job Description: Front-of-House and Bar Manager

Overview
The Front-of-House and Bar Manager at Walla Walla Country Club is responsible for managing the daily operations of the front-of-house and bar, ensuring seamless coordination across all responsibilities. This includes staff scheduling, inventory control, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and managing budgets. The manager will lead and train a team to deliver exceptional guest experiences while adhering to health and safety regulations. The goal is to ensure the smooth running of operations and maximize customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management

  • Hire, train, and supervise front-of-house and bar staff, including bartenders, servers, and barbacks.
  • Assign shifts, evaluate performance, and address employee concerns.
  • Help plan and approve staffing and scheduling procedures, job descriptions, and specifications.
  • Plan and implement practical orientation and training for new team members.
  • Develop professional growth opportunities for experienced team members.

Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate stock levels of wine, beer, liquor, mixers, and other bar supplies by conducting regular inventory, ordering new stock, and monitoring for potential loss or waste.
  • Complete periodic inventory counts of china, glassware, and silverware.

Financial Management

  • Track sales, manage costs, and analyze profitability.
  • Adhere to budgetary constraints and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Approve all product invoices and staff time sheets.
  • Oversee proper accounting and reconciliation of the point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain records of special events, house counts, and daily business volumes.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop a capital budget for necessary beverage equipment and recommend facility renovation needs.

Customer Service

  • Resolve customer complaints professionally to maintain a positive atmosphere.
  • Interact with patrons to enhance their overall experience.

Menu Development

  • Create and update drink menus, including signature cocktails and specials.
  • Develop wine lists and implement bottle\glass wine sales promotion programs.
  • Incorporate seasonal trends and customer preferences into menu offerings.

Compliance

  • Verify all pertinent staff have the required food service and proper alcohol serving permits.
  • Confirm the club adheres to all proper licensing requirements.

Health and Safety

  • Maintain a clean and organized front-of-house and bar area.
  • Ensure staff adhere to proper sanitation procedures and address safety concerns.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to keep equipment in working order.
  • Maintain appearance, upkeep, and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment and facilities.

Special Events

  • Assist in planning and implementing procedures for special club events private parties, promotions, and banquet functions.

Vendor Management

  • Establish and maintain professional business relationships with vendors.
  • Monitor purchasing and receiving procedures for accuracy and quality.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing and quality.

Marketing

  • Collaborate on the design of all food, beverage, and banquet menus.

Reporting

  • Prepare regular reports on sales, labor costs, and overall performance for management.

Entertainment Management

  • Assist in selecting and approving entertainment for events and club activities.

General Assignments

  • Complete other assignments as directed by the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • A preferred Bachelor’s degree focusing on Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food and beverage management or a similar role.
  • Certifications such as ServSafe Food Handler and Alcohol Server Permit are preferred.
