Location: The tag is on one of several specimens to the left of the No. 3 fairway. There are many Little Leaf Lindens on the course including No. 5, 11, 14 and 18.
Tree information: The Linden is also called a Lime Tree. This is one of three Linden varieties on the course. The other two are American Linden and Silver Linden which are on #11 and #12. The tree is native to central Europe and is common there. The Najevnik linden tree is about 700 years old and is the thickest tree in Slovenia.
The ‘Greenspire’ clone is usually more upright with a strong central leader and perhaps slightly faster growing than the parent. Linden Honey is popular and said to have medicinal properties.
Size: Usually 60 to 70; but can get to over 90’.
Growth rate: 15’ in 10 years, may be faster in youth.
Foliage description: Dark green leaves becoming yellow in fall. The linden is most easily recognized by its fruit and associated bract.
